This post will be quite idiosyncratic so don't worry if you do not understand.
Being a J (Judging) myself, theres always something about the P(s) (Perceiving) that i couldnt really see eye to eye with. so this is what this post will be about. If you're not clued in to this J-P thing, go read up on MBTI. In essence, its about a person's personality type -- with preference of being structured and planful characterising the J-s, and spontaneity and flexibility characterising of the P-s. THE PERCEIVERS
1) Failure, unwillingness to plan
Perceivers (Ps) generally do not like to make plans. They take things as they come. For the extreme Ps, even for big issues like marriage, they may think "ok, i'm gonna marry this girl" but they dont plan for it, so they dont know how its gonna happen. Since theres no action plans, and life here is always busy, the marriage doesn't materialise until the point where it has to. e.g. "oh shes pregnant, we have to get married now." The Ps dislike making decisions and planning early as they prefer to keep all options open for as long as possible. In other words, they will only decide on an action plan at the very last minute.
2) Inability to foresee plans that may fail
This is really closely linked to the first point. Ps hardly plan and they dont really know how to. When they do plan, the plan might be a haphazard one which may not work out as they fail to take into account foreseeable circumstances which may stall their plans. However, usually they are not perturbed by their plans going awry, they will just react on the go. Theres good and bad about being so flexible. The good lies in being able to react fast and to not get into trouble, while the bad being that needing to react fast calls for extra resources. eg.. when running late becos of lousy time planning, the Ps will just catch a cab to get to destination in time. In doing so, the Ps more than quadruples the transport cost. This is also why most Ps are frequent cab hailers and perennial latecomers. Another disadvantage would be that it inconveniences many people when the P is unable to reach in time or maybe unable to reach at all. But above all, the biggest disadvantage of reacting on the go is the act of reacting itself. Remember what i said about being proactive some time back?
3) Finance management.
Again closely linked to the first two points. As we all know, $$ matters are tricky matters. Inability to plan and unwillingness to plan leads to having less than desired resources for life events that really matter to one, for e.g. marriage, retirement, etc. More often than not, Ps live in the moment. and i do mean THE moment. What this means is that they will generally spend more for consumption right now (enjoyment, convenience) than save for needs in the future or spending on investments (e.g. financial, education, things that increases in self-worth/value over time).
Ok i shall not go on... actually it all boils down to this preference of not being planful. This is characteristic of the Ps. Though for the most part of this post i've made it sound like such traits are really undesirable, there is some good about being a P. BUT, this is not the point of my post so i shall not elaborate. (the point of my post is to vent some of my frustrations about my P-ish encounters).
